**WACO, TX | September 20 – Local artists, Creative Waco, the City of Waco and Texas DOT celebrate the installation of the new I-35 underpass public art globe sculptures.**

Waco-based artists Morgan Eyring and Andrea La Valleur-Purvis were commissioned to design and develop a series of six 4-foot illuminated globes sculptures that each tell a unique story about Waco. This project is the first public art light project of its kind in Waco and is part of a larger decorative light project that accompanied the expansion of I-35.

The designs represent local industry, community, wildlife, and architecture with both geometric and organic elements. When illuminated the sculptures provide cathedral lighting that creates shadow and light effects that change throughout the day and night. This project aims to activate this space by illuminating the busy corridor connecting Downtown Waco and Baylor University for pedestrians and cyclists, and support programming in the area — like Church Under the Bridge which has held weekly church services there for decades.

This project is a collaboration between City of Waco, Texas Department of Transportation, Creative Waco, Texas Commission on the Arts, and the artists.
